Hardee's first restaurant was opened in 1961 by Wilbur Hardee in Greenville, North Carolina. It began as a walk-up, selling 15-cent hamburgers. Tremendous advances in building design, equipment efficiency and menu offerings have been made since then. Today Hardee's has restaurants and operations in approximately 80% of the United States and in foreign countries. Through mergers with Sandy's and Burger Chef, the Hardee's family has grown to over 3000 restaurants. Most recently Hardee's became a part of the CKE Restaurants; a highly esteemed California based company. Hardee's has now embarked on an exciting new path to Mountain Star-Hardee's.
